Harassment poster

Harassment poster

Sexual harassment was one of the issues highlighted by unions and women's organisations in the 1980s. This poster, produced by the Working Women’s Resource Centre about 1989, shows a female worker pulling away from a man who stands over her with his hand on her shoulder. Although sexual harassment had long been part of women’s work life, it had remained hidden, unspoken of and difficult to prove. Widespread publicity, like this poster, was one way women sought to prevent it occurring.
