To love a Maori

To love a Maori

To love a Maori (1972) followed the path forged by Broken barrier (1952) in exploring a cross-cultural relationship. Tama leaves his rural marae for Auckland. He meets Penny (a Pākehā dancer) and they fall in love – to her parents' strong disapproval. The film follows their struggle against city prejudice and intolerance.
