
In the 2000s some op shops realised that they could make more money for charity by identifying which items were collectable or antique and charging more for them. ‘Retro’ fashion had become popular, and the graphics and typography of this advertisement for the Presbyterian Opportunity Shoppe in Hamilton hark back to the 1950s. Though the shop was capitalising on the retro trend, its advertisement still makes it clear that clothing could be bought cheaply.
