Carpenters’ tools

Tools were imported from the great industrial cities of Britain such as Sheffield and Manchester. Carpenters and joiners owned their own tools and took great care of them. They were a considerable investment, and at a time when a son would often follow a father in his chosen trade, fathers often willed their tools to their sons.
