New Zealand as Britain’s farm

The July 1946 cover of the New Zealand Journal of Agriculture featured the horsemen of the apocalypse thundering down onto Europe and Great Britain. Food shortages following the Second World War in Britain and Europe saw a real threat from the third horseman of the apocalypse – famine. New Zealand’s duty was to feed Britain in her time of need.
