Kōrero: Taxes

During the Second World War the government raised tax rates to help fund the war effort. The war was also funded from internal sources such as government reserves, and through raising loans. Posters such as this one, which was displayed for one week in the winter of 1943, appealed to New Zealanders’ patriotism.
