Promoting rural New Zealand

This picturesque farming scene, complete with sheep, rustic buildings and rolling pasture, was used to advertise coach tours of New Zealand in the 1980s. Rural tourism began to grow in that decade, as economic change made additional sources of income necessary for farmers. The government tourist department also increased its promotion of rural attractions to overseas visitors.
