The New Zealand Kiwifruit Authority prepared this information sheet in the 1980s. Kiwifruit should be stored in the fridge, but not with apples and bananas, which emit ethylene – a ripening gas. Kiwifruit are unpleasant to eat when very firm, but are ripe and sweet when soft.
