First issue of the New Zealand Listener, 1939

This is the cover of the first issue of the New Zealand Listener, 2–8 July 1939. The new magazine had the sole right to publish radio programmes in advance, guaranteeing it commercial success. Under its first editor, Oliver Duff, the Listener gained a reputation for the high literary standard of its articles.
