
The stallion Riddlesworth, one of the first thoroughbreds to be imported to New Zealand, helped lift the quality of local horse stock. His stud services cost 10 guineas per mare when he arrived in 1843, but by the time this advertisement appeared in 1847, the price was down to seven guineas.
