Order of Mass in Latin and English

This is the beginning of the Order of Mass (the standard form of Catholic church service, also called the Ordinary of the Mass) in both Latin and English. Latin was the international language of Catholic ritual for centuries. The English version is from the 1970s. The Second Vatican Council (1962–65) allowed the Latin Mass to be replaced with services in vernacular (commonly used) languages.

Learned to serve 1963 when one had to be able to make the Latin responses with no sheet to read from. Loved it as a special language for God.

I was born in 1971 - I can still remember (just) when the mass was said in latin.
