Suzanne Aubert was a Catholic nun, social worker and herbalist. She became interested in the medicinal properties of New Zealand native plants and made medicines based on them. Her medicines were first sold commercially in 1891. This advertisement used a common tactic of patent-medicine manufacturers – listing prominent people who could vouch for the medicine's effectiveness.
