These maps show projected changes in New Zealand’s annual mean rainfall (as a percentage) for the century between 1995 and 2090. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) uses four representative models to predict how climate might change in the future (known as representative concentration pathways). The left map shows the changes forecast by the largest predicted rainfall change, and the right map the lowest predicted change, based on the average of six climate models from around the world.
