Ethnic identity in Auckland, 2013

The ethnic identity of residents in these four Auckland local board areas in 2013 show striking contrasts in the ethnic composition of different parts of the city. Around three-quarters of Devonport-Takapuna residents were European, and there were significant numbers of Asian people, but few Māori and Pacific people. In Māngere-Ōtāhuhu, by contrast, less than a quarter of the residents were of European background, while Pacific people were strongly represented.

Note: Figures sourced from the Statistics New Zealand 2013 Census. Where a person reported more than one ethnic group, they were counted in each applicable group. As a result, percentages do not add up to 100.
