Minhinnick on intervention in Vietnam, 1964

This Gordon Minhinnick cartoon, from the New Zealand Herald of 17 April 1964, comments on official New Zealand and Australian support for American military intervention in Vietnam. Minhinnick suggests that, in contrast to their public statements, prime ministers Robert Menzies of Australia (left) and Keith Holyoake of New Zealand (centre) were being pushed into the conflict by the US, represented by Uncle Sam in military uniform.
