English cartoon about New Zealand rugby team, 1905

This cartoon, showing the young cub New Zealand punching the old British lion, appeared in the English magazine Punch on 11 October 1905, in the early stages of the 1905 All Black tour. The caption reads: 'The un-licked cub. The New Zealanders have met several of our best Rugby teams and easily defeated them all.' Such tributes from British observers helped to strengthen New Zealanders' national pride in their team.
