ACC levies to rise?

ACC levies to rise?

This October 2009 cartoon plays on the fact that at the time the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) minister Nick Smith was trying to get legislation through Parliament which would have resulted in raised ACC levies. ACC levies are a form of tax paid by employers, the self-employed, workers and motor vehicle owners to cover the costs of compensation for accidents. The ACC is a category of Crown entity called a Crown agent, which is an individual statutory body.
