Telecom Kiwi share

Telecom Kiwi share

The ‘Kiwi share’ was devised when Telecom, a state-owned enterprise, was sold to private investors in 1990. The share was in fact a contract between the government and Telecom that required the latter to maintain some practices of the former state entity, in particular unlimited local calling as part of a fixed monthly phone rental. Telecom sought to review the share in 1992 but was unsuccessful. Spot the dog, a benign Jack Russell terrier, featured in Telecom’s advertising at the time.
