Cuba St transformation

Cuba St transformation

The inner city is the centre of entertainment and night life. Until the rise of apartment living, bar and nightclub owners had few reasons to moderate noise. New residents were quick to complain about loud music and rowdy patrons. This cartoon satirises the change to Wellington’s fashionable Cuba St – the trendy youth who danced in the street’s night clubs in the 1980s becomes the uptight middle-aged apartment owner of the 2000s.
