‘Fish and chips, Maketu’

‘Fish and chips, Maketu’

Practically every little town and suburb in New Zealand has at least one fish and chip shop. Unpretentious and utilitarian, they are usually owned and staffed by a husband-and-wife team. Robin White’s 1975 oil painting, ‘Fish and chips, Maketu’ captures the simple charm of the local ‘greasy’.
