The logos of all three officers of Parliament – the ombudsman, the controller and auditor general, and the parliamentary commissioner for the environment – incorporate their Māori names and the New Zealand coat of arms. The arms represent the government's authority, but officers of Parliament are responsible to Parliament rather than to the government of the day, to ensure their independence.
