Painter Jacqueline Fahey focused on the domestic life and relationships of women, including herself. Her unrestrained view of middle-class family life included fighting and drinking, both of which are shown in this 1977 painting ‘Mother and daughter quarrelling’. Domestic life, which had been dismissed as trivial, was an important source of material for feminist artists.
