Colonial farm workers at play

Colonial farm workers at play

This etching, published in the Illustrated New Zealand News in 1885, is probably of Australian origin. It shows the men’s quarters of a sheep station, where shearers and farm workers entertained themselves. Some read books, some played cards, and some just yarned with their mates.
