Artists’ interpretations

I te wā o ngā hōparatanga nui, ka mīharo te Pākehā mō te rerekē o ngā whenua me ngā iwi hoki. Ko te mahi a ngā tohungatā, he whakapaipai i ā rātou tānga mō te āhua o te taiao, kia reka ai mō te hunga i te wā kāinga i Ūropi; hei ētahi wā kua tawhiti rawa te rere o ō rātou hinengaro, e kitea ai i roto i ētahi o ā rātou mahi. Ko tēnei whakaahua, ko ‘Kōtiro o Niu Tīreni’, i tauirahia mai i tētahi whakairo i tāngia e te tohungatā Wīwī e Nicolas Piron. I tae ia ki Aotearoa i te tau 1793.
