‘The pig-hunt’

This illustration of Māori and Pākehā on a pig hunt comes from Emilia Norris’s book Amongst the Maoris (1874). Māori were quick to keep pigs that Europeans introduced. Many of the animals escaped, adding to wild populations. Pig hunting was soon a popular pastime among Māori.
