Farm cadet scheme

Waipaoa Station Farm Cadet Training Trust runs a two-year agricultural training programme, for five cadets a time, on Waipāoa station in Poverty Bay, 65 kms inland from Gisborne. Most of the trust’s funding comes from charitable trusts and other donors. In this 2009 Country calendar clip, station owner and trust board member Rob Telfer praises the boys’ achievements and in particular that of novice shearer Aaron Bell.
