Story: Waikato region

Hamilton in 1956

Video file

By 1956, when this documentary about Waikato was made, Hamilton was a city and the centre of a wealthy dairy-farming region. Post-war growth was also evident in the nearby dormitory towns of Cambridge and Te Awamutu, and in other farming centres such as Morrinsville and Matamata.
