Coaches: Waimarama Taumaunu

Waimarama Taumaunu talks to her team, the Capital Shakers, during a break in their National Bank Cup game against the Southern Sting in Wellington in June 2006.

After debuting for Canterbury in her mid-teens, Taumaunu was selected for the national team in 1981 and formed a formidable defensive partnership with goal keep Tracy Fear that helped New Zealand win the world championships in 1987. Assistant coach of the Silver Ferns from 2008, she was head coach from 2011 until 2015.
