Sportsmen: George Nēpia

This health stamp from 1990 features rugby legend George Nēpia. Nēpia was born and raised in Wairoa, northern Hawke’s Bay. He married Huinga Raupani Kōhere of Ngāti Porou in 1926 and made his home at Rangitukia, near the mouth of the Waiapu River. In later life he lived with his son Winston at Ruatōria.
