Hinuera cliffs

Ignimbrite cliffs near the road between Lake Karāpiro and the settlements of Piarere and Hinuera mark the course of the Waikato River 20,000 years ago. The creamy-yellow rock is mined and sold as Hinuera stone, a building material.
