Traders: Thomas Halbert

Thomas Halbert made a living at Poverty Bay as a whaler and trader and land dealer from 1832 until his death. He was connected by liaison or marriage with many prominent Māori families; among his children were two prominent local Māori, Wī Pere and Kate (Keita) Wyllie.
