Wiremu (Bill) Kerekere (left) greets W. Whaanga at the Māori Leadership Ball, in Wellington in 1977. From 1964 Kerekere (of Ngāti Porou) assisted Leo Fowler in running the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation's Māori Programmes Section. He was also a musician, songwriter and leader of Gisborne's renowned Waihīrere Māori Club. This audio clip is an extract from his popular series on Māori words and phrases.
