Story: Ocean currents and tides

Feeding frenzy

This footage is of a feeding frenzy among fish as they devour a salp that has drifted into a reef with the current. Islands such as the Poor Knights in northern New Zealand have some subtropical fish species – a legacy of the currents that bring fish and other life with them from warmer latitudes.
