Story: Te reo Māori – the Māori language

Launch of Māori Television

Māori Television was launched in 2004, and has provided a platform for showcasing Māori culture and revitalising te reo Māori.  In 2008 Māori Television set up a solely Māori-language channel called – appropriately enough – Te Reo. In 2022, Māori Television was formally renamed Whakaata Māori.
