Whangārei town basin

In Whangārei, at the head of the harbour, is this town basin for recreational and other small vessels. The ‘Hatea Loop’ – Huarahi o te Whai (pathway of opportunity) – circles the Town Basin and inner harbour. This 4.2 kilometre walkway and cycle path opened in 2014 and includes a public sculpture and heritage trail.
