Kerikeri’s citrus fruit industry

Kerikeri’s citrus fruit industry

Andrew Harty, citrus manager of Kerikeri’s biggest fruitgrowing company, Kerifresh, inspects part of the harvest in May 2005. Kerikeri’s fruitgrowing industry dates back to the 1920s, when entrepreneur George Alderton established the North Auckland Land Development Corporation. Land in the area was subdivided into forestry and orchard lots, and development began.
