Container cranes, Sulphur Point

Technology and new work practices have made container terminals round-the-clock operations. The shipping lines’ desire to reduce port calls has fuelled competition for the lucrative container trade, especially between Port of Tauranga Ltd and Ports of Auckland Ltd. In this night scene at Tauranga’s Sulphur Point terminal, two Liebherr post-Panamax cranes (55-tonne capacity) and a Liebherr multi-purpose crane (39-tonne capacity) are alongside the Direct Kestrel.
