The Viaduct Basin

Ports have become places for sophisticated urban recreation in Wellington and Auckland. In Auckland the Viaduct Basin was rapidly transformed into a base for the America's Cup yacht races. In 2005, when this photo was taken, the cup had been lost, but the basin remained a place of chic restaurants and luxury yachts.
