A successful dieter

A successful dieter

This type of photograph is a newspaper staple – a newly slim person holding a large garment they used to wear. Patricia Davies of Upper Hutt was photographed in May 1974 after losing 102 pounds (46 kilograms) in less than nine months. Her diet included eggs, fish, a limited amount of red meat, skim milk powder and fruit.
