Export award, 1972 (2nd of 3)

Export award, 1972

As part of the government’s drive to increase exports, it set up annual awards for successful businesses. In 1972 Macdonald Holdings was an export award winner. The company had started as Industrial Metals in the early 1950s, when it was involved in recycling scrap of all kinds: ‘We would export anything in those days, anything we could get our hands on,’ company director R. C. Macdonald recalled in 1972.
