Pushing exports

A government export push began in the early 1960s. Although the focus was still on agricultural goods, there was an increasing expectation that manufacturers would also export. The 1962 New Zealand trade mission to South-East Asia was led by Deputy Prime Minister Jack Marshall (eighth from left), and included the head of the Department of Trade and Industry, Bill Sutch (sixth from right), and parliamentarian Lance Adams-Schneider (seventh from left).
