The cities of Hastings and Napier are long-time rivals. They have been described as the twin cities of Hawke’s Bay because of their close proximity to one another and their comparable populations. However, their images are very different – Hastings celebrates its agricultural, pastoral and horticultural foundations, while Napier trades on its glamorous sun-infused, art-deco image.
