Bendix Hallenstein and family

Bendix Hallenstein and family

Bendix Hallenstein was one of Dunedin’s most successful businessmen. After arriving from Melbourne in 1863, he traded mostly in Queenstown before moving to Dunedin in the early 1870s. He is pictured (seated, centre) with members of his extended family around 1890, probably in the garden at Manono, the home of Hallenstein's nephew, Willi Fels.
