This large stable was built on Mangatārata Station, near Waipukurau, in the late 19th century. It is clad with corrugated iron, and the large driveway through the centre is lit by two large skylights. On the left side is a row of eight stalls and a tack room; on the right is a row of loose boxes and another tack room. The lofts above the stalls and loose boxes held feed for the horses. The flooring is made from blocks of tōtara, about 50 centimetres across.
