Teaching teen mums

One response to the region’s high teenage pregnancy rate was the establishment of a Teen Parent Unit at Makoura College in Masterton in 2002. The unit enables young mothers (and expectant mothers) to continue their education while raising their children. As well as academic subjects, they study life and parenting skills. The unit has a maximum roll of 25.
