First published in 1967, The flies in my hat details Greg Kelly’s life spent outdoors chasing trout, especially in his beloved Whakapapa River. The cover, featuring a fisherman’s hat adorned with flies, was painted by his friend, the artist Peter McIntyre. McIntyre often fished with Kelly when he was staying at his fishing cottage at Kākahi on the Whakapapa River.
