Hamilton Operatic Society programme

The Hamilton Amateur Operatic Society presented the musical The belle of New York in 1964 to celebrate 40 years since its revival. (It had started tentatively in 1913 and been reinvigorated in 1924.) For the jubilee show, produced by the well-known Molly Donald, a young Malvina Major played the title role. Major was brought up in Hamilton and later embarked on an international singing career.
