Waka on the Pelorus River (1st of 4)

Waka on the Pelorus River

Surveyor and artist Charles Heaphy painted this picture of waka (canoes) on the Pelorus River based on a sketch by E. J. Wakefield, probably made when Wakefield visited the valley in 1839. The setting is probably near present-day Canvastown.
