‘Atene, Whanganui River’

In this 1980 acrylic painting Alan Taylor places the Whanganui River settlement of Ātene (Athens) among oversized birds, vivid flowers and other plants, and a richly coloured sky and landscape. Ātene’s church is visible in the distance.
