Checking water quality often involves measuring a number of factors that are not immediately obvious to an observer. However, in this case an Auckland Regional Council staff member is sampling a stream to determine what has caused this dramatic change in colour. To keep water quality high, town water supplies are often sourced from headwaters of bush-clad catchments that have little or no urban development.
